Description
The 8 harness satin weave is more pliable than the plain weave and is easier to conform to curved surfaces typical in reinforced plastics. In this weave pattern there is a three by one interfacing where a filling yarn floats over three warp yarns and under one. Another typical application of this fabric is used as the a top and bottom layer of a heavy woven fabric to help reduce the heavy weave patterns on the fascia of the laminate.
This fabric style is over three times the density (thickness and weight of the HEXCEL 7781 style fabric but exhibits similar pliability, saving time by just using less number of layers and improving mechanical performance.
This fabric offers ease of use for fabricating medium to large tooling, molds, and general reinforcements. It is very pliable and easy to lay-up compared to standard woven roving fiberglass. The 8 harness satin weave allows excellent minimal consolidation pressure when applied unto sharp angles or contoured surface without wrinkling or weave distortions.
